First of all we are a Church that loves our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners… I am the worst!” We are a church full of sinners. But we are now, by God’s grace, “saved sinners” that are in a right relationship with God through faith in our Lord Jesus. We are also “sinners that are being transformed” by the power of the gospel. Jesus died to not only free us from sin’s guilt and condemnation, but also free us from sin’s enslaving power! So now we seek to follow Jesus by serving Him daily, and gathering every Sunday as a congregation to worship Him.
Second, we are a church that loves God’s Word. God’s Word, the Bible, is the basis of what we believe and how we seek to follow Jesus. In our weekly worship service we spend about 30 minutes expounding/explaining God’s Word and applying it to our lives. The rest of worship hour is spent singing God’s praise, and seeking His face in prayer, (yes, we take up an offering to, but you don’t have to do that, your a visitor). We cordially invite you, whoever you are, to come and worship Him with us. If you don’t know Jesus, you are so welcome to come join us too! One of the best ways to learn about following Jesus is to do so in the context of worship and fellowship among a group of genuine believers in Jesus.
Third, we are a member church of the Presbyterian Church in America denomination. More broadly we are part of what is known as the historic reformed tradition of Protestant churches. You can learn a lot about our denomination from the PCA website. Maybe the reformed tradition sounds strange to you. That is ok. Reformed means holding to the Reformation doctrines of the Protestant Reformation which took place in the 1500s. Also we a confessional church which is a fancy way of saying we have a Confession and Catechisms that summarize our faith. These are known as the Westminster Standards.
